Beyonce: Stays Atop Billboard 200 and Scores Another Top 20 Hit!
In the first 10 days of release the star’s fifth studio album “BEYONCE” has sold 991,000 copies. Becoming the year’s 12th best selling album with only 10 days of sales under its belt.
Her second single “Drunk In Love” has also secured its self a top 20 position, peaking at number 12.
Within the first three days of release, the album moved 617,000 digital units. The unannounced album was sold exclusively through iTunes.
No leaks — No “promotion” — No pirating.
While many point out the fact the album lacked traditional promotion or marketing, the star actually didn’t need any.
Acts like Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and Lady Gaga remained silent until the release of their lead single. Beyonce on the other hand did not.
Beyonce amped up the anticipation of her album by staying in the lime light without releasing any new music. The star had a ton of things keeping her name a topic of conversation, such as:
- The Superbowl
- Mrs. Carter World Tour
- GQ Cover
- Pepsi Commercials
- A H&M Partnership
- Repeatedly leaked songs and Videos etc.
So, did the star actually need any proper promotion? Not really.
But, that doesn’t diminish the fact that in under three weeks the star has already dominated the competition.
Her fifth studio album is nearing platinum status in less than a month, platinum being a milestone no other pop diva has achieved this year.
So, Congrats Bey on another successful album!
