This Week’s Flash Back Friday artist is: Lauryn Hill


On this episode of Flash Back Friday we’ve decided to Honor one of Hip-Hops leading ladies, Lauryn Hill.

While only having produced two solo albums, Hill holds the title of “Best Selling Female Rapper” of all time. Her debut effort ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill‘ has been certified 7x’s platinum with sales of 7,106,000, as of April 2012.

In it’s first week the album sold 422,624 copies, giving her the highest first week sales from any female rapper. Hill still holds this record today.

Only one female rapper has come close to claiming the feat, Nicki Minaj. With her debut effort ‘Pink FridayNicki sold sales of 375,660 copies, first week. Hill and Minaj remain the only two female rappers who have gone platinum in less than a month.

‘The Miseducation’ won Lauryn five GRAMMYs, the album set her name in stone as a living legend. So in honor of her accomplishments we have complied a list of her songs and features.
